Cool stuff! My grandfather had a '53 back in the day (waaaay back....) so I have always had a soft spot for GM trucks of that era.
Now that you're going into LS engines, you will wonder how the small block ran as well as they did. You won't be going back....
Hello there skymangs. I was reading thru this thread yesterday morning about 11AM. Just out of curiosity, I remember seeing smart *** posts by "Jays_SSZ28" being a dick as you mentioned, which have been deleted I see. But I do not recall any smart *** posts by "99 Black Bird T/A" being a dick, only his one post at 1:24AM (post #3) giving advice. I may have missed something, but who were you referring to as being a dick, "Jays_SSZ28" or "99 Black Bird T/A" ?
As far as your original question, I'd certainly replace the stock pushrods with upgraded chromoly pushrods. The stock pieces are flimsy and chromoly units are an inexpensive upgrade, little over $100 for a set.
LS7 lifters are stock replacement lifters for LS-based engines and aren't really an "upgraded" part per se. So probably not very necessary to replace them if the customer's engine doesn't already need them. If the customer wants to upgrade the lifters, I'd suggest something better like Johnson, Cam Motion or Morel.
R6cowboy, I definitely meant 99 Blackbird. He edited his post so he wouldn’t look like a dick! I have discussed with my customer and I’ll be doing both the chromo pushrods and the LS7 lifters.

You sir are incorrect. Blackbirds post has not been edited in any way. What you see on page 1, is exactly what he typed from the beginning. He was giving sound advice on the subject as he always does.
I keep trying to tell guys if you want to be a dick go to YB. This site shouldn't tollerate that. If you have nothing good to advise, just stay off the reply button.
OP, that truck build thread has a buddy building one! Thanks

It doesn’t tolerate that. Way too much of this silliness in the past, which drove away professional builders. Which is why person got banned. Multiple warnings in the past, and continued to be a bully. Agreed YB is the PERFECT place for that nonsense.
ok so I understand that LS7 lifters and chromo pushrods are pretty critical. 99 Black Bird, I only ask because if you watch YouTube some people do and some don’t. I’ll be building this for a customer. I’m trying to build an estimate. I’m not in the habit of billing my customers for parts they don’t need! I figured what better place to go. No need to be a DICK! And belittle people who are less experienced than you. While I may not be an expert in LSs yet, I am quite knowledgeable on sbc and all manner of older GM. It’s an 02 LM7, so I defiantly need to upgrade.
My original post WAS NOT edited. My first post in this thread is exactly as initially posted. The forum shows it posts have been edited. There is another member that makes a lot of snarky posts. Maybe he commented and decided to delete.
Your claim is without basis or foundation.
I provided information without name calling or insults.
You should withdraw your baseless slanderous claim. In fact your making personal attacks on me with your name calling without any evidence I made a single offensive comment.
I've had zero warnings in the last ten plus years. Someone else may have posted something snarky and then deleted it.
I’m sorry, I must’ve been thinking of someone else! Wait a tick, I’m not sorry! I clearly remember his post, and he deleted one as well! I am not going senile at 42!
rpkurbo: I’m glad my build inspired someone! I don’t do this for the money, I do it to save trucks. Most years we operate with a net loss. Luckily I am a %100 disabled vet. The Army compensates me quite well. So I can afford to lose some in my business!
