Default Build advice

you guys with stock cubic inch fbody cars cars running decent 1/8 mile times got any advice for me. I’m going from a fairly mild cam 227/231 114lsa with ported 241 heads un-ported fast stalled car that cut 7.40’s at 93mph full weight, to a custom cam aftermarket head car with a ported fast. I keep reading about these 346 fbody cars running in the mid-high 6’s 98-100+ mph N/A full weight but I sit & think about what I’m physically seeing out here it’s hard to believe lol. My current converter is a yank pt4000. Before I get my cam specd I’m trying to decide on what heads to purchase. My fast 92 has been fully ported. Also My ls1 took a crap so I got ahold of a 5.3 iron block for cheap so I’m dealing with a tad bit extra weight. I removed my AC & plan to have the 5.3 opened up to a 346-7. I go to people & they all have a dyno number in mind more than an ET or mph & hopefully this is posted in the right section. I don’t want a 500rwhp car that’s not going to go down the track like the numbers says it should. I have read in the drag times but those guys aren’t really saying much about their builds. They run these times & brag but they won’t drop a dime of what they’ve done to achieve it. Majority of them are M6 also. Thanks

Well you can get good power out of a NA 5.3 but it will always be lacking behind a ls1 in the power department plus the extra 100ish pounds like you said. So mod for mod it will always be slower than a ls1 car. If you just wanna get into the 7s then you shouldn’t have a problem, you could always throw some nitrous on there for the track

Have you thought about having the 5.3 bored to 5.7 liters and stroking it? More cubes will make it easier to make power.

the plan is to have the 5.3 block bored & have my 5.7 internationals placed in it. I’d like it to be a low 7 high 6 car.

i planned on having it bored for 5.7. I contemplated going with a 4 or a 4.125 crank with 6.125 rods but I haven’t heard about them running too much better than an ls1 with a great set of heads, cam & intake.
