Default Rods and pistons

Building a d1sc 5.7 ls1. Stock crank. Was looking at compstar rods and wiseco pistons. My machine shop suggested I take a look at Mahle pistons. Looking for real world experienced thoughts and opinions for other rods and pistons.

Gen4 rods are a good cheap option as well. Mahle, Wiseco, and CP Carrillo all make great pistons.

I went with Compstar rods and Wiseco pistons for a 370 build using the LS1 crank. I've had goosd success with them in other builds but if you can get your hands on a quality pistons to use with Gen 4 connecting rods then by all means do that but whatever you do just be sure to get it balanced if not using the stock rods and pistons for the LS1 crank.

Not all 3.622 cranks are the same. The ruck cranks are not gun drilled but the LS1 crank has gun drilled main journals. The LSA crank has gun drilled rod and main journals and is forged steel.

I'm using Wiseco pistons in my N/A 346. Awesome pieces, well worth the money imo.

I had 3.905 diamond pistons in my build up until last week and they were great. My cam got wiped by a bad ls7 lifter so I figured it was time for a full rebuild. Pulled it apart and the pistons look great and I would reuse them but the cylinder walls are a bit worn so I needed to go with a 3.908 piston. I got lucky that mahle makes one that is the right size and is with in one gram so I'm going with it.

Mahle makes good stuff but if you are interested I am selling my diamond pistons for cheap with pins. Just need new rings and locks.

Just throwing it out there as an option but ya I will let you know in a few weeks how I like the mahles

Nope never on boost and kept compression around 11:1

These are the pistons, the 11502 from Diamond. They are flat top with 2cc reliefs and are flat to the deck at 9.24 deck height.

These pistons are the top of the line and wish i could still use them but, cheaper and easier to change out the pistons than sourcing a used block.
