That truck pan may have the bypass valve in it and that would be the next thing to check. I've saw one other brand new engine do that. I have started taking them out and replacing them with a plug any time I have a pan off now just because of that.

if it has one in the pan I’m assuming the pump would still have one?

I popped the first motor in this setup due to a boost issue, so I cleaned and reused the intake, oil pan, and all accessories Minus the oil pump, timing set, etc. I used that stuff off of the motor I bought to go back in. I thought I cleaned the pan pretty good but got me to wondering if when it popped it messed with the bypass or maybe lodged something. Don’t know.

i definitely have oil at the filter, but have zero oil at the oil pressure sensor port

The one in the pan is different than the oil pump. Like I said before you can take the one in the pan out and put a plug in it. I have saw one brand new rebuilt engine do this . Pulled the pan replaced it with a plug and had 50lbs of oil pressure. It's worth checking .

i can’t seem to find it on my pan, is it inside the threaded tube the filter screws onto?

It's on the inside of the pan ,looks kinda like a bolt head . It will be above the filter to the inside of the pan a little if it has one. It may not have one .

I didn't mean to add that picture like that but if yours don't look like that then your pan doesn't have a bypass valve. If it does get a plug for that and switch it out.

mine doesn’t have that. Those must have come in the newer pans.

I’m gonna prime it with shop air and see what my mechanica gauge shows while on the stand this weekend

Thanks for all the help.

Just a little not tell you much test but tell you a little, pull the oil galley plug on the driver side front of the engine and pull the oil pressure sensor and blow air through there... see what happens

Well got the new standard Melling oil pump on, a new o ring for the heck of it, and double checked the cam thrust plate gasket. Barbell is in place. Little freeze plug next to oil pump is there. Also swapped out the oil pan off of another engine I had. There was oil all over the bearings, and running out of the oil galleys above the cam. So it was getting some oil to the top. Just none on the gauge or coming out of the feed. Will fire tommorow and update

50lbs at idle!

Guess it was the pump bypass. There was some wear on the gears , but anyhow it’s fixed.

all I swapped was oil pan to another one, pump, and o ring.

thanks again for the help

Glad to hear it man! Low oil pressure is a nightmare!
