BTR Beehive Titanium Retainers (Pic)
Before I continue swapping out my valve springs, I have a concern about the BTR SR-007 Titanium retainers in the way they fit on the valve springs. I attached a picture in which the two springs on the left are PAC 1219 with the BTR retainers. The springs on the right are my old PAC 1218 springs with GM Steel retainers. Look at the way the BTR retainer doesn't fully cover the top of the springs vs the GM retainers. Im wondering if this normal not just for BTR's units but if its normal for all Titanium retainers?
I did reach out to BTR but its Sunday and would like some input from fellow members.
Thanks in advanced.
P.S. Not trying to bash BTR in anyway, this is a legitimate question as Ive never installed these type of retainers nor held one in my hand before. I could just use the GM units and call it a day (a hot day here in AZ). This is a street car with a very mild cam and lightly ported heads, going with Titanium retainers seemed like a logical choice.
(Left) PAC 1219 w/ BTR Ti-Retainer, (Right) PAC 1218 w/ GM Retainers
I also measured the GM retainer at appox. 1.035" OD, and the BTR SR007 is 0.960"
