Default BTR Beehive Titanium Retainers (Pic)

Hi all, longtime reader first time poster.

Before I continue swapping out my valve springs, I have a concern about the BTR SR-007 Titanium retainers in the way they fit on the valve springs. I attached a picture in which the two springs on the left are PAC 1219 with the BTR retainers. The springs on the right are my old PAC 1218 springs with GM Steel retainers. Look at the way the BTR retainer doesn't fully cover the top of the springs vs the GM retainers. Im wondering if this normal not just for BTR's units but if its normal for all Titanium retainers?

I did reach out to BTR but its Sunday and would like some input from fellow members.
Thanks in advanced.

P.S. Not trying to bash BTR in anyway, this is a legitimate question as Ive never installed these type of retainers nor held one in my hand before. I could just use the GM units and call it a day (a hot day here in AZ). This is a street car with a very mild cam and lightly ported heads, going with Titanium retainers seemed like a logical choice.

You can measure their OD and see if there's a difference. Looks to me though, like the top of the 1219 is slightly less "beehived" in.

Take a caliper and measure the 1219 vs the 1218 where the retainer sits, then do the same for the retainers. That should give you a solid starting point...

Nothing wrong. The 1218 and 1219 are the same size on the top. The retainers are different sized. Very normal in the aftermarket. PAC retainers for the high lift 1.500" duals measure only1.365", the retainer is 0.135" smaller than the spring. As long as there is 50% cross section under the retainer, we do not care if the retainer is smaller.

The PAC springs measure the same as the GM Blue beehive springs at the top. Appox. 1.065". I had a set of blue ones laying around.

I also measured the GM retainer at appox. 1.035" OD, and the BTR SR007 is 0.960"

Thanks for you input, there is definitely more than 50% area coverage with the BTRs. I guess I just wanted more confidence in continuing the with the Ti-retainers.

The PAC Ti retainer measures only 0.990 OD. You should be fine.
