Cam not ground exactly right??
Is it common for the cam grinder to get the ICL off by 3 degrees? The cam is on a 111 LSA and supposed to have 3 degrees advance ground in, for a 108 ICL. I measured several times and it was coming in on a 111.5-112 ICL. Put a 3 degree adjustment bushing in and it came out to 108.75-109 ICL
Just curious if that is a common occurrence. Never had one off that far I don't think. Glad I degreed it.
Also it could be the chain, or gears, or cam or a combination. Very likely to be a combo of things causing it, that's called stacked tolerances
I'm an idiot. Embarrassing to even admit this but.... I guess I'm so used to degreeing SBC, I used the second lifter to degree it. Which is the #1 intake on a SBC, but obviously the exhaust on an LS. Sooo i took everything back apart after I realized my mistake (drilled out cam gear and put advance bushings in and everything to get it "right"), put the zero degree bushing in, and it cam in at 108 ICL, EXACTLY like it was supposed to be. Cam was ground perfectly, by Lunati.
Moral of the story, don't be an idiot.
