Default Ls1 push rod questions

I have an ls1 with prc 15 degree heads, yellow terra rockers, and a 0.047 head gasket. I used my comp cams push rod checker and I’m measure ins 7.3625 when I achieve 0 lash. Has anyone else seen this with this set up? Texas speed said 7.4 should work but I’m thinking not now. Is there something I could be doing wrong when checking the length? I soaked the lifters for two days before install. Could the longer push rod be due to the “extra head deck height” they talk about on the site? Any help would be great I’m trying to get this thing running before winter is here!!!
thanks

Is it the stock cam or aftermarket? Many aftermarket cams have a smaller base circle so they need a slightly longer pushrod.

it’s a ws6 store cam kit I got and came with 7.400 but I feel like that’s going to be a little too short

7.4 is a longer push rod then your measured 7.36 keep it simple use the 7.4 stock push rods.

I have the 225 as cast and 0.045 Cometics. Stock rockers. My pushrods are 7.45-7.47. Checked all 16 measurements three times before ordering. Highly recommend Manton 11/32”. I ended up ordering 4 or 5 at 0.010” longer than my original order due to variation in the rocker stand (I know because I checked by swapping them and the difference was gone). Car now has whisper quiet valve train and dyno’d exactly what I expected based on other combos on this site. If you measure with a caliper, and you’re thorough, I would trust it. Seemed long to me at first. But they do have a thicker deck, as you mentioned.

Yella Terra rockers need longer pushrods. Especially if you use the shim under the rocker stand.
I used the shim in order to get the wipe pattern on the valve tip correct.
With .060” preload, I ended up with 7.450” pushrods.

so Texas speed said to use 7.425 so that’s what I ordered today. I think between the head gasket, the lifters and the rockers is where the difference was made up.

You never told us what lifters you're using. That's critical. You need to measure to 0 lash and then add preload, which is different depending on which lifters you're using.

I've never installed Yella Terra rockers, but it sounds like you need to adjust them for proper wipe pattern as well. I wouldn't take unnecessary chances on an engine with that kind of money into it.

Don't get dad new socks or a grill brush this year.
