Reviving an old thread because I haven’t been able to find an answer.

When did Summit head bolts change over to TTY? Reading the thread sounded like a better option than OEM, but I see they are now TTY.

Anyone know?

It appears the Summit branded bolts ARE all TTY. 2 numbers for early or late configuration.
They still have normal torque spec bolts, but they're ARP, which is the best alternative.
They also have FelPro which don't say whether they're TTY or not.
The TTY bolts are likely private branded OEM style bolts, likely priced under GM for those desiring TTY bolts at a discount.

I’m just going by what pulls up when I search for the Part number from the catalog. If you have a different number, please share!!

You'd be better off looking online rather than the print catalog as online is always current. Print catalogs get outdated fast.

Yeah. I’ve searched on their site and also used the Part # from the catalog. All they have listed under Summit brand are TTY. I didn't know if they updated the part # or just stopped selling them altogether.

Could be any number of reasons. Supplier either-
1) quit making them,
2) went outta bizz,
3) got pissed at Summit for whatever, (or vice-versa), or
4) they weren't selling well and Summit dropped them.

You'd think a Summit rep would answer the question on the forum.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. This is a catalog error. The SUM-910210 and SUM-910211 LS head bolts are TTY bolts as seen on summitracing.com. We don't have Chromoly head bolts for the LS engines in our own private brand. We're getting this submitted to our catalog department for correction in future catalogs.

Thank you for the clarification on that. It is greatly appreciated.

Are there any plans to produce a competitive head bolt comparable or better than your competitor?

We currently do not have any plans for them, but it is something we may consider in the future. We have 8740 Chromoly head studs for the '04 and later LS heads. Those are part number SUM-910501. We have the '03 and earlier and other variations of head studs in the works. Check our site in the coming months for those.
