Not so sure... That second "lobe" facing toward the right -- sure looks like it's got a journal in there.

Oh okay lol, I didn't realize you had a 5.3 and 5.7 at different times.

And I don't blame you, as I get older I'm starting to write down dates and mileages on my rear ends and transmissions brake master cylinders etc to help me keep up with the last time I serviced them.

Whoa! Good eye! That could very well be a crank! But from a ship.. locomotive wouldn't be quite so large...

Yeah, that could be. Either way, it's a big, slow rotating diesel for sure.

Ha, didn't think it would be so controversial. According to the source, it's a ship camshaft. https://theimageplane.wordpress.com/...shipyard-1978/ But looking at it, I'm not no sure now.

Looking at it again, it COULD be a cam, with the lobes ground narrower than the cast lobe, making shoulders on both sides of each lobe. The lobe is more like a wide groove for the follower to travel in.

I think it's a photo of "tech@ws6store" admiring his new high lift truck cam for one of his 6.0L 2500hd's...
