To cam swap or not for now
so im currently putting together parts for a 6.0L for boost, and I already have a perfectly running stock 98 ls1 with a gt45 turbo. the only thing swapped is the ls6 intake sitting in it, as well as a 60lbs injectors and walbro 450 feeding it with 93 and meth.
so im getting itchy and im contemplating slapping in the summit stage 2 turbo cam in the ls1. I have some pac 1218 springs and tsp push rods that I was holding for 6.0L as well as the 317 heads. im thinking the stage 2 turbo cam might be a bit small, so im gonna go with the summit stage 3 turbo cam in the 6.0L.
I'm just hesitant to do it since I am building an engine. however the added bump in over engine power would push the boosted power up significantly. im already pushing 12-14psi on an engine.
So would it be a good call to just install the ss2 cam in ls1 now or just hold off for the 6.0l.
I still gotta send it to the machine shop. I can use the gen4 rods and lq9 pistons long as I dont need to bore it out. if thats the case ill need to rethink my rotating assembly, which will require significantly more time and money lol

I agree, it makes no sese to swap the cam out in the current engine when you just fixing to pull it.
So my suspicion is your not wanting to swap the engine, and your just looking for an excuse to keep the 5.7 in there? lol
Also a 6.0 is not much bigger than a 5.7 so cam choice wouldn't differ very much between the two if at all.
And the added 100lbs on the nose is gonna take every bit of that extra .3 Liters to make up the difference for.
