Default New purchase came with heads/cam

Hey all

Bought a 99 Z28 convertible last month. 100,000 miles. Black. SLP intake/exhaust. SS wheels. 275 squared stance. C7 brakes. Good starting point.

The previous owner bought a set of 243 heads and a stock cam from a C5 Z06. Low mileage on both when pulled.

Sent the heads out, they're good. just looking for thoughts. I figured i'd use them. Add an Ls6 intake manifold.

Headers and y-pipe. Have her tuned. Im not a drag racer by any means and im not one for crazy power or going for big power.

I figure it would be a decent jump from what it is now. Id imagine the cam will make for a nice manored drive. Add a bit of sound.

Ultimately its a sunday cruiser for the wife and I. Just want a little more kick. What kind of gains are those with experience thinking?

it came with a set of yellow springs for the heads as well. Id imagine tuning with factory z06 heads, cam and intake would be fairly easy but i really dont know.

Ultimately looking for input. what would be a good parts list to gather before putting it all together. Its a 4l60 car too.

If you figure the factory numbers, 1999 F bomb motor was 325 at the crank, although closer to 350 in realsies. C5z was 405 at the crank and truly one of the best factory engines gm made. I think you make a great choice to take the 243 heads, bowl blend, valve job, no porting, z06 cam. Easy to tune, easy to drive. If you do not already have the ls6 intake, consider a used fast 90 or 92 for another 15-25 powers.

If you can find an LS6 intake go for it and use thinner head gaskets @ 0.041 if you can find a set. That will increase your compression and give a bump in torque.
