Default How to tell the difference between gen 3 and 4 lq4 crank.

I understand they are both the same part number but are balanced differently. I purchased a 24x reluctor wheel crank that the person said came out of a 2005 that had gen 4 rods and pistons. I know there were some 24x lq4's with gen 4 rods and pistons but is there any way to confirm it?

I have gen 4 rods and lq9 pistons going in a budget build and would rather not have to balance.

Thank you.

So you would balance a motor if you were taking it apart but not changing anything?

At the factory they are not balanced together. I am going N/A and not a ton of power so no high revs.

I would get it balanced, because you change pistons. Not sure about piston weight difference between LQ4 and LQ9, being LQ9s are flat top there is a chance they are heavier?
