New to the group! I just bought a junkyard 6.0lq4 for my 1979 camaro. The motor has low compression. I pulled the 317 heads off last night. Heads look good. And cylinder bores look okay. I believe it just needs new rings. My problem is I would like to shoot for around 600hp to the crank. do I put new rings in it and keep the stock bottom end or do I completely rebuild from bottom up I’m trying to not go broke building this engine “goodluck I know” I plan on putting a sloppy cams stage 2 or 3 “not sure what stage yet” and either keeping the 317 heads and porting them or going to 799 heads. Then adding a ls6 intake. I’m hoping someone here can help guide me into the right direction on what I should do for what I want out of this engine!
