Best LS Porting and Polishing Service
I have a set of 799 heads that I am going to install on my 5.3 LM7. I'm looking for a solid CNC porting, polishing service. Would love some recommendations.

Nowadays porting is all that's needed, especially with CNC. Polishing is not done as much, as the CNC surface is good for flow.

I literally just posted about not wasting money on porting 15 year old heads that will probably end up leaking coolant. Run them as is. Its's really not worth on it a 5.3.
In fact you will make more power with 862/706 heads on 5.3 and a thinner headgasket. You would have to mill the 799s, lose piston to valve clearance to make it even worth it and port them on top of that. Did I mention having to buy a different length pushrod if you milled the 799s?
If you are going boost then you will only see maybe 20-35whp on the dyno. That's usually 1-2 psi of extra boost.
The power difference between a 5.3 with ported 799/243 and a 6.0 with stock heads is still huge.

How much can you expect to gain from ported cylinder heads? Is a 50hp gain worth 1K when the bottle can make three-four times that much?

TEA Stage 2's are the best, by far, for a cnc'd stock cathedral. AI was real good, but having major business issues, not currently recommended. I have no idea wtf anybody is recommending in this thread. FED cant port a stock cathedral worth a ****, and cheapo porting is questionable at best. If you are paying for a service, get your $$$'s worth. The TEA's are proven to make power. Porting a set of 862's is better, just for the better compression. Do a lot more homework before just throwing $$$ around.

Price is not always connected to quality of work. Stock or ported will work. Remember it's effective and efficient cylinder filling that you want. The throat and bowl are a major pinch point that needs work.

Always cheaper to go with what you got. If you got 799s already, just mill .030 to slightly increase compression. 799s airflow is quite sufficient for a 5.3. You can still run a decent sized cam with consideration for intake duration and lsa. Use money instead for a better intake like a fast. Or if you have an ls6, then maybe stall and gears...
