Default 99 z28 cam question

I don't know much about cams but i know they put out power, i want power.

What kind of cam should I get with my car...
99 Z28, A4, cut-out?

I plan on getting either some gears (3.73 if i get some) or a stall soon, prolly going with a yank 3000 stall.
So any help would be appreiciated.
Also there was a 98 Z28 that puleld up on me it had a stock exhuast system, he said he had nothing cept headers and a cam, and we punchedit from 25, he was gone. He beat me more then a 2000 z06 did.
I want power....
and info....

Thanks

I did some looking up...

Comp Cams LS1 Camshaft - 212 / 218 .522 / .529 114 LSA 1200-6000 RPM Power Band. Excellent low-end power. Mild Camshaft, great for automatic cars with the stock or mild aftermarket torque converter and daily drivers. Works well with Crane 1.8 Roller Rockers.

..seems like I would like this the most.

I drive on the highway regular, and its a daily driver, also the automatic. What do you guys think?

EDIT: How much power would this typically put out?
I want alot of power for the buck so this may or may not be my best choice.

Something that has power and its safe is cool to me. Help me out. lol.

If you want a mean sounding cam, that is not it. Although that cam would give you a nice performance bump from stock, I really dont think you would be happy with it.

If you really want power, you should first look into getting a torque convertor. That is the best mod you can do for an A4 for performance. Then get LT headers. That will make your car sound mean, and will give it a decent bump in HP and setup good exhaust for a cam selection.

Once you get that, I would look into getting something like MTIs T1 cam, which (off the top of my head) I think is 221/221 .558/.558 112LSA and then get some custom programming so you can get the most out of the cam, and idle properly.

But if you really want to go ***** out and are willing to spend the money (remember money=HP). This would require custom programming, and would need Stage 2 heads to get the most from it. I would recommend Thunder Racing's TR227 cam which is (once again off the top of my head) 227/224 .569/.563 114LSA. With all these mods, tuning, and Stage 2 heads and an LS6 intake, you'll be well over 400RWHP which is good for mid to low 11s.

Holy! That all sounds good to me!!!
About the headers, I heard it's the best to go with headers first but, if I go with my cam first, would it equal out the same if I added headers later?

Well I would like a answer to my previos post, but I have a new question.

Does any one suggest not to use a TR 224/224 cam,
because my friend is selling one for $250.

What would my power range be on that baby?
and any other info appreciated.

EDIT: I wanna keep stock heads.

Thanks
spud
