Default Help?

I recently got my mom’s car, after she passed away about a year ago. It was the car I learned how to drive with. it had been sitting for about 3 years prior. I put a new battery in it and took it home, was good for about 2 weeks and it had/has a starting problem which I diagnosed to be the the starter since I just replaced the battery and I’m pretty sure the alternator was still good. So after I put a new starter on the car. It fired right up and has been great for about 3 months and now I have the exact same problem, I will go to start the car and it will click but the whole car dies immediately right after. If anyone can help me figure out what it might be I would greatly appreciate it. It’s a 2000 z28 auto

Plain and simple but not always simple to track down but it's a bad connection. Check all your power and ground connections and make sure they're clean and tightly secured first. For instance I have a poor power connection at the battery and sometimes when we start the truck all we'll get is a click. Pop the hood and give the power lead a little turn with your hand and try and again and it fires up. Clean the terminal and tighten it up good and now there's no more having to pop the hood to check the connection.

Same thing for the power leading down to the starter solenoid. If the connections aren't good then all you get is click click. There's grounds on both sides of the engine block and another one on the back of the driver side cylinder head and if the engine grounds aren't good then it will have issues with running.. Another issue could be the ignition switch and there's a small wire in the column that can become separated and will cause a no start but you will not hear the starter clicking and the security light would also be flashing.
