Orange Peel how did you like the 224/228? Did it have a good power bump compared to the stock or even a z06 cam? Only reason im staying away from the x3 right now is a want a little bit more power down low right now and dont want to rev the motor alot. When i get it rebuilt and forged out then im gonna go with the x3. From your experience do you think the 224/228 in a m6 can possibly go 11.6x, with all the right bolt ons and a set of mti2e heads?

Providing you can hook, you should go more like 11.4's with that cam/heads. loose a bit of weight too, I mean the car.

**** 11.6 greedy bastard im just hoping for 370 rwhp and somewhere in the 12's. the nitrous will take care of the rest, yeah i couldn't resist nx wet kit slightly used, with purge and warmer for 350...i just couldn't let that pass me by. now just gotta get a damn fuel pump and this cam installed...

Will my 28.8 injectors handle a 100-125 wet shot if i got a 255-340 lph fuel pump? what would i need to get into the 10's with this cam?

I liked the cam, it was decent for what it is. I was a big improvement over stock for sure, but my X3 was a big improvement over the 224/228. I couldn't really break the tires loose in 1st with the 224/228, once I got the X3 in there, it was all over, the tires never stand a chance. I think the X3 has better power down low, mid and up high than the 224/228 did. I wouldn't go back to the 224/228, I love the X3, big cams are awesome I gained around 30 rwhp over stock with the 224/228, so it's a good cam, and with heads, 11's shouldn't be a problem at all. You could be low 12's with the 224/228 cam only, maybe lower depending on your race weight, weather, location, elevation, etc.

I think 370+rwhp is easily attainable dude, no need to sweat that I would think the 28.8's will be fine for the nitrous as long as the pump is there, get the 340 and be done with it, they are good to what, 800 HP, you'll be fine. I plan to get one come winter when I get some Nitrous on the car, can't wait!!

I wouldn't see a problem with a 150 shot I plan to run a 125 shot most likely, If ran a 150 shot I would be seeing 550+rwhp and probably near 600 rwtq, so that may be pushing it for my setup But we'll see, hehe

i hope you can hit 12's with the cam lol

so far i'm at 12.35 on the stock long block, stock pulley, and ls1 intake
searching for 11.5's once the cam, intake, pulley, and tubular K-member is done

well i mean low 12's i've already run 2 upper 12's n/a and dipped into the 11's on a dry shot. i mean if i could get into the high 11's on the cam with good tuning that would be sweet, but i dont forsee that happening. maybe with a new intake, pulley, some suspension work a 12 bolt but with my driving skills thats like putting a diamond on a pile of ****. at the end of the day its still a pile of ****. So i guess i will see.

just keep working on shifting. once you feel good enough, keep your foot in it and shift. sing it up 100rpm before the revlimiter and if you don't hit the limiter, you've mastered the art of shifting

driver makes the difference between a car running 11.9@112 or running 13.0@112

just waiting for my factory hurst shifter with short stick to come in. that should help atleast some. I've pretty much mastered the rev limiter. it should be fun when i change it for the cam ugh. gonna have to relearn a little bit.

I gotta friend with a 2000 gt vert that doesnt seem to get what kinda power these cars make even without a cam. i told him i should reach 370ish rwhp and he even put a bet that it wouldn't. might have to sneak anothe rpulley, perhaps the ls6 intake if i can afford it.

Thanks for the info and opinions etc etc. I really appreciate the help

Jason is a very good tuner and I am sure he can get a good tune for you via mail order, but it wont be as good as it would be if your car was actually there to verify all the numbers (i.e. running rich or lean, etc)

if i sent him recent a/f ratios with around 6-7 dyno pulls with my list of mods and what not would you think he could zero in the tune nearly as well as a shop could? my local shop that does tuning isn't very skilled with ls1's, and i can get dyno pulls for cheap as hell even with a/f ratios. just i dont trust their tuner.

You could check the new Vinci hand held programmer. It's a revolution in portables, does almost what edit can, all in the palm of your hand. They got a GP for $419. I'm getting one .
