Anyone in California deal with these new Cal ID/CVN issues or running a similar cam on stock tune to pass then retuning to compensate correctly?
Don't do anything a stock tune won't handle, as they will know if it's been messed with. Use the LS6 cam or something very close and use a stock LS6 tune.

Hey, Gary, I'm not in Cali, but I have a question. Let's say you have a stock 1998 LS1 C5 Vette, and you go for LS6 heads, intake, stock LS6 cam, and tune. Will the smoggo's red flag that as a non stock 1998 tune? Or will they see its a stock LS6 GM tune that has already been certified CARB compliant? Just curious. Thanks.

That's a GOOD question! My thought on it is to REPLICATE in every way possible the LS6 configuration. It might need a referee, but if you can prove you are merely DUPLICATING a full LS6 configuration they might see it through.
I toyed with the thought of someday getting a C5 with a tired LS1, using a Gen IV 5.3 bored to 5.7 specs and using the right intake manifold and a cam CLOSE (but with "improvements") to replicate an LS6. Likely not gonna happen, but we all dream..... lol

It’s common in China for Chinese who work with westerners to have a western name they use at work. I returned the favor when I was over there and went by “疯老头” … “Crazy Old Man”.

I’d run from this cam. If you’re trying to buy an “Elgin” cam from *any* knock off company, Chinese or not, you’re stealing from Elgin, and deserve what you get.

I'm certainly planning to use the 02 LS6 cam that came out of my last boosted 4.8. It'll run on a stock tune and set monitors correctly. They're looking at calibration ID vs CVN for that Cal ID. I'm just not 100% sure if it's ALL Cal IDs, or just operating system, etc.
