Yuck... CA smog laws

I wouldn't put heads and cam on a stock bottom end that's got 100k miles on it. Just do a healthy 100 shot, your motor will last longer and you'll save a few thousand beans. JMO.

There are many ways to "get around" the smog ***** in california. It will cost you an extra $200 every two years, but its worth it. Crooked smog shops are not hard to spot. If the shop owner or shop manager greats you with "Aye Bro", "My Friend" or speaks very little english, you're on the right track. Bring your DMV renewal paper work, and your friends 98-02 stock f-body. For a price the smog man will scan the dmv's paper work, but forget to look at the license plate of the car being tested.

So your saying nitrous on a 100K mile motor is better for it than heads and cam? Exactly why is that??

I guess it depends on what you consider puts wear on your engine. If it's increased combustion, then your heads and cam combo is going to be making more powerful combustion all the time, whereas the funny stuff only when you want it.

You also have to keep in mind that even with a little 224 cam you're going to want to rev to at least ~6500, which I would be a little wary of doing on a 100k stock bottom end.

It's been my experience that doing a heads and cam reduces drivability (anywhere from a little to a lot) and significantly reduces reliability. Just something to keep in mind if it's your daily driver.

All JMO... Good luck!

I'd say 100 shot is your best option with 100k miles on the bottom end.

Start saving for a shortblock.

xp3nd4bl3- In the September 2004 GM High-Tech performance mag. LS1 vs. LT1 shootout, everyone is almost running a Nitrous Express wet kit!!! I was wondering if that would be the best ticket to getting some more HP witout breaking the bank??? Is it a pretty safe kit too? I was looking at maybe the 75-150 shot.
