Can anyone else weigh in that has built an aluminum motor in the factory clearance range?

Talked to tech support at King bearings. He suggested that since the XP is a not coated and a harder bearing than the stock material it would be wise to go with larger clearances than my 0.0014-0.0017 range, ideally in the 0.0020-0.0022. Going to have to pull this thing apart again and install a half set of standard size XPs.

Good advice. That’s more comfortable in my book. If you end up at .0023-.0025 after the halfshell, that’s ok also.

OK, I stand corrected. As I stated, I dont have my manuals with me, and don't remember what my clearances were. Regardless of OEM specs, I'd personally want the lower to middle spec on an aluminum block. Cast iron I would shoot for middle to high end. That's just me. As for my setup, I only remember I used Clevite 'H' series bearings.....
