Default LM7 casting #

Trying to narrow down the year of my LM7. I cannot find the engine casting #. Supposedly came out of "0?" Suburban. It would have casting #'s ending with 392,393 or 358. I understand the numbers should be back of block, passenger side below the head. Nothing is there! Has G03 casting # on the passenger side of the block just south of the motor mount. So theoretically it's at least a 2003. But it's a Drive by cable. Came with the complete wiring and '486' ecu. However, when I tried to read the ecu with my scan software, I only got a code of FB:2199FFDFD. More on that in my post (09354896 ecm with red and green connectors - LS1TECH - Camaro and Firebird Forum Discussion).
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

Mike

Do you know if it has two different sized cylinder head bolts? (not counting the small ones near the intake manifold) Or are they all the same size?

There should be a date code on the drivers side, top, rear of block behind cylinder head. Letter. then two or three digits. Letter is month, next digit or digits is day of month. last digit is year.

not sure what you mean, diameter or length?

Jake Wade
Stamped or cast? I thought the date code is on the front passenger side below the cylinder head. There is something unreadable on mine in the front position. Also, the G03 that is on the passenger side of my block supposedly stands for July of '03.

Thanks for the reply. Since the motor is all together, I'd rather not start pulling things apart to check that way.

Was just a shot in the dark in case you had had it apart at any time.

I am going off of memory. I very well could be wrong on the location. I apologize if I steered you wrong. I have an early LM7 block on the engine stand in my shop and will verify for you and post back. It’s either front or back. Should be pretty easy to see if engine is out.
I know they are raised cast letter and numbers.

Cool

Jake & !Fast
I found the spot on the driver's side rear, and I knew about the spot on the pass side front, but the paint is too thick. I'll have to remove the epoxy paint to be able to read it. However, I'm specificly looking for the 8 digit number that should be on the pass side of block below the head.

I'm thinking it might give me more of a clue than the three or four digit Julian date code.
I reexamined the casting # I referenced in the post #1, I was way off.

It appears to be S06, but S isn't a valid month code. Somewhere on the net I had seen that this would be the block casting number. But that doesn't make any sense, because of the month or the year.
Again, I'm stumped. Cool
