Had this thing apart several times, but haven’t seen that before.

Two changes since last time apart. Melling 10296 pump with the high pressure spring and the Sac City barbell.

So I’m thinking simply a lot of oil pressure? Maybe too much. It’s 80+ going down track. Maybe more. I don’t have time to look at it. Gauge is to low to see easily.

Cant be helping the passage alignment with it not seated.

Anyone else ever see this?
The barbell fits nice and tight.

Thinking while it’s out, I might put the std pressure spring in.

Ron
Hi Ron,
Its normal for the Barbell to get pushed out against the cover from the oil pressure. The barbell is designed to sit around .050" (gasket thickness) out of the block.
Thanks
Christian

Thank you.

There is a reason that hole is recessed into the cover.

I'm referring to post 12. Isn't oil pressure supposed to increase 10 psi per 1000 rpm?

At the pressures being discussed here, that would depend on the relief spring cracking pressure.
If starting at 75psi at idle, it wouldn't take much revving to hit the relief pressure threshold.

Well, I gather it’s a moot point. It’s designed to pop out and hit the cover.

Back to trying to fix this pan, which is not going well. Price jumped from the $350 or so I paid for it a bit over a year ago to $440. Ouch.

Appreciate all the comments.

Hi Everyone,
The Barbell is designed to be pushed out from the oil pressure around .050". At that point the the O ring is sitting approximately center in the block
to insure a good seal and the rest of the barbell is set to where it is not blocking the oil ports. Pushing the barbell further in can cause interference with oil passage
and the O ring will not be centered in the block.
Hope that helps clear up why the Barbell sticks out a little. BTW even the factory Barbell stick out.
Thank you,
Christian
