These are the cam specs on the cam that I purchased;BTR GEN III & IV WEEKEND WARRIOR CAM - STAGE 4 - 32430112R1

224/230 .553/.553 111+2 Heres the link: https://speed-engineering.com/produc...nd-warrior-cam

The bad news.. I called them this morning just to confirm that I have the specs correct and they told me that cam is on back order and they don't have it in stock.. He thinks... he said they see a part # in their computer that supercedes this cams part # but that I should wait to see an e-mail that they send me about if they have it or not.

I know that some of you have cam calculators and can figure out the over-lap. Can someone post the over-lap on this cam, and also your thoughts on how it will perform? The duration numbers are fairly tame, along with the lift, and... showing my ignorance here... what does the +3 represent AFTER the 111????

Something I didn’t see mentioned with regards to cam lope sound is that to some degree that can be manipulated by the tune as well. I’ve seen videos of tuners taking a super mild idling cam and have it sound choppier just by adjusting idle settings and timing. So if it’s more the sound you are after, you can buy a “small” cam that will hit your performance goals and then just work on dialing in the idle to sound like you want it to.

summit-cam-timing-calculator here you go.

5 degrees overlap

111+2 means 2 degrees of advance were ground into the cam when it was made. That's fairly typical.

That Warrior 224/230 on 111 will be way better choice than the Stage 4.

BTW - pretty much an LS can be tuned to lope etc even a stock cam if it's all about sound effects.

1brd, yes I've seen the same stuff.. Not something I'm interested in doing. It has to do with adjusting the under speed, and over speed, idle timing settings. I'd rather have an engine that idles smoother, but with noticeable lope, and leave the timing where it's supposed to be so that the engine does not stall unexpectedly. I've seen the video where the guy is changing the underspeed to +20, and over-speed to -20, across the board, and then the computer is essentially flipping the timing back and forth causing the engine to lope as it chases the correct timing. Not my bag.

To RedXray's point, if you're willing to increase your budget (and it's available), the BTR Truck Norris is probably the best fit for what you want. Their specs are secretive, but we know it has at least 1* overlap (most likely more) and an early enough IVC that it will work with a 4.8L and stock convertor if you know how to tune it (although it runs much better with a higher stall).

And you can find videos of it showing it lopes pretty well even in a 6.0L.

ABSOLUTELY. Every single competitor has the tools to measure a cam. The only reason in the world to keep the grind a "secret" is to deceive someone.

Agree, I'm not a big fan of it either. It typically turns me away when companies don't include advertised values (and what adv. lift they're using) in addition to .050" lift. One vendor doesn't list advertised, nor the amount of advance (even though they offer different LSAs), and I think they even round their total lift numbers. So they're not on my list. Nor are the ones that list teaser specs like" 21x/22x .55x/.55x" even though they do show LSA and advance.

The only reasons I took exception in this particular case, was because there is enough dyno comparison (including independent testing) out there and now enough people using them, to understand how it'll behave for driveability and it's power range. Plus you can at least get an idea (although one video shows they list 107.5, while it's advertised as a 107) how much overlap is, and unless it's ground retarded you can estimate the max IVC. But preferably I'd like it to be more transparent, and knowing the EVO would be helpful. Especially if considering it for non-NA applications. There's just not a lot of shelf cams that fit the main criteria the OP wants. Personally it's not my cup of tea anyway, because "sound" is not important to me like other factors. But it works for the big-thump...won't see much past 6k crowd.

Hopefully now that they've gotten their initial sales off to a good start and as more and more are out there, they'll either share the complete specs themselves, or someone else will. They've jacked up their price now to a point at which you could order your own custom ground camshaft from a vendor on here for almost the same, and know what you're getting.

Besides there's a lot more to lobe profiles than just valve events at .050" and advertised, so makes little sense to hide those basic numbers other than to get a jump on the competition.

I've got the perfect cam for your application the specs are xxx/xxx .xxx/.xxx on a xxx+x LSA. We keep no secrets from our competitors just our customers. Cam is only $575 and on sale today only with fee based shipping plus sales tax!

Wink...I agree 👍, if they can't share the specs then I can't buy the cam.

If you want low end power and good drivability, then the Summit Ghost cam is the answer. It will sacrifice a bit up top though.

You forgot to specify an arbitrarily designated operating rpm range and whether a higher stall is recommended, regardless of displacement and the customers vehicle setup/use.

I would be ok without the full specs on the BTR Truck Norris since it's been proven for a "very mild" build plus they give you almost all the numbers to understand it's designed usage. Camshafts like TKM Performance's "Big Stick" or "Lamb Cam" give zero specs except "recommended for 1000 hp or less" or "1000hp to over 2000hp this camshaft will have you covered". NO WAY to big of an investment to have zero info.

It's crazy that anyone in this day and age thinks that withholding information is a good business practice. (The BTR TN last spec notwithstanding). For better or worse, the internet has killed off all real proprietary knowledge, and this is why reputation and customer service is of the utmost importance.

Excellent point - version 2.0

The perfect cam for your application, the Neu Uber Cam the specs are xxx/xxx .xxx/.xxx on a xxx+x LSA. We keep no secrets from our competitors just our customers. It boosts low rpm torque and easily pulls to x,xxx rpm as designed. Perfectly matched to an x,xxx rpm aftermarket stall converter and x.xx gears! We normally see xx wheel hp gain & xx wheel torque gain! It's also more efficient boosting mpg by x.x miles per gallon! The Neu Uber Cam is only $575 and on sale today only with fee based shipping plus sales tax!

I had similar requirements to what the original poster is asking for, although higher rpm was good too. Big difference was that I wanted a quiet idle. Mine is a 4000 pound car too but a 5.7 M6. To achieve low down power, in my personal experience (trying 3 different cams with the same goal), I think you need something with an IVC between 33 and 38. Which seems to match what Summit has mentioned too.

I had a cam with very similar events to the Ghost Cam (lower IVC actually) and it was not good for low down or top end in my M6 car. I hated it. So, I went to a smaller TSP cam (high lift, I see no reason to run low lift cams) and was very pleased by the improvement. It has 38 IVC but I'm thinking about advancing it to bring it down to 36 but I think 34 or 35 may have been ideal.

If you also want thump, you're in luck, you can run more duration (especially in a 6.0) and still achieve the same goals, overlap being the key here. I needed -6 or similar to achieve my goals, not an issue if you crave the thump!

"They" can't sell a top secret product that no one else has if "they" list the specs. You know you're getting the best when it's a custom spec secret.
