Per the video it looked more like it’s really rich on the 1/2 shift as it appeared to be (atleast from my phone) black smoke.
I have a log file of that run if you'd like to look at it if you do HP Tuners. I've got a wideband but haven't hooked it up yet. Have to get that done.
The silver bottle vr1 is conventional so it should release the moisture better then synthetic. Conventional is less hydroscopic.
I’d be changing the oil more frequently if you’re in a high humidity area. Did the car run better times with the 165 thermostat? Shut fans off if you can get the water temp up then try a hot oil change.
I use a w/e wagner adjustable pvc and a catch can. I don’t have any smoke and the catch can is nothing more then a quarter size oil spot in the can.
a stock pvc on a modified motor will pull to much vacuum it would need a restricted pvc or adjustable.
Not really any way for the moisture to be pulled from the block with out a pvc.(unless you run a vacuum pump) It’ll turn to steam and stick to the top of the valley cover, valve covers.
Ok guys here's an update. First pic is plugs from cylinders 1,3,5,7. I'm almost ashamed to post it. They were obviously way past needing to be changed. That's my fault. Cylinders 2,4,6,8 looked the same. Good news is there was no sign of oil on any of them. So no oil in the cylinders.
The next pics are the throttle blade and inside the intake. The blade appeared to have oil on it. Its black. But could be dirt to I guess also. I pulled the lid off right after I parked the car from driving it. There was smoke in the intake. Not sure if you can tell from the pic but it is wet and oily looking inside the intake. I'm thinking a catch can is definitely in order.
Last couple of pics are the pcv set up. As you can see the driver side valve cover just has a nipple plugging it off. The passenger side has the hose from valve cover to tb. Then the hose from intake to the valley cover.
I'm thinking a catch can is what I need. What do you guys think/recommend? TIA.
Looks completely normal, I honestly think your engine is fine and like previously mentioned is just burning off condensation inside the engine.
The smoke from the exhaust during the shift looked like fuel (rich) not oil.
If your going to stay with PCV then be sure to purchase a sealed catch can and not a breather can otherwise you will be adding un-metered air into the intake manifold and that will cause an issue. MMS has a breather can setup with a check ball and built in PCV that would suit your needs but if you don't want the sight or smell of the smoke/moisture under your hood then run a sealed catch can and send it through the intake manifold. I'm sure the manifold, engine valves and catalyst will stay clean for many years to come. In a factory LS1 setup the PCV valve is in the line just before entering the intake manifold and from your picture you have an LS2 or LS6 valley cover which has a built in PCV so no inline valve would be needed and the sealed catch can would connect between there. BTW..There's no such thing as clean air and dirty air, it's blow-by and it's the same stuff being circulated. That is all..
