We got @jc1285 into the SUM-8715R1 "Ghost" cam and our SUM-C2502 4th Gen F-body 25% underdrive balancer.

jc1285, It was a pleasure working with you. We think you're going to really enjoy this 4th Gen combo of yours with the Ghost cam. Be sure to update us with your feedback once you're up and driving!

And of course, we will DEMAND a video, or at least a sound clip, of your combo at idle. Ghost cams sound so good....

Based off of their description, it sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. I've done a bit of searching on the forum and the reviews on this cam seem pretty damn good.
my buddy runs this cam, excellent cam, pulls hard and tuned properly it drives great with great street manners..

I thought the OP ordered a Ghost Cam & 25% UD pulley from Summit based on post #21

IDK your exact location. I DO know I've gained a lot of experience with a 25% UD balancer. I have a built LS7 in a C5 Corvette, always had the 25% UD ASP balancer on it. If you live in the Northern half of the U.S., you will probably be OK.....IF you get a larger radiator, like a DeWitt, or BeCool, etc. I live in Michigan, and it isnt as hot (usually) as in Florida, Georgia, desert SW, etc., so the 25% works great here. But in really hot weather, and long stop lights (think Florida, and their 3 and 4 minute stoplights!), you may still run warmer than is ideal for a high performance build. I'm talking 215°-220°, even with a larger radiator. Yes, those temps are considered normal for a stock LS1/LS6. But that's a bit hotter than most guys with performance engines like. Yes, you'll cool down quickly at 40+mph, but stop light to stop light, you will get pretty warm for most performance engines. Anyway, FWIW: Next time I change cam/timing chain/lifters/trays, I'm going to a 10% UD balancer. I spend more time in Florida now, and don't like the 210°+ temps I see in stop and go driving, with the 3 minute+ redlights, and A/C on. My opinion, but it's one I've spent many years, and nearly 100,000 miles, developing. At slower speeds, rpms, etc., there simply isn't enough coolant flow in 95°-100° temps to keep the engine in its best heat range for peak performance, say 185°-190°.....

Post #24, which replied to the OP post #13, confused me a bit, and I thought the SNS cam was a late decision, when it was not. My bad. Deleted my mistaken post.

Quick little update. Shop just getting started on the swap this week. One thing I did decide to do is pick up a FAST 92mm intake that has been ported by Vengence Performance along with a Nick Williams 92mm throttle body. The intake also comes with a set of 32lb Bosch injectors. I'm thinking this whole setup should make a pretty knarly DD. Hopefully have it all buttoned up next week.

Another little update here. Injectors turned out to be 36 lb instead of the 32. Also, after pulling engine/trans, we noticed the the previous owner had an aftermarket clutch installed. Unfortunately when it was installed, it was not aligned properly and was only engaging about half of the clutch surface. So back to Summit I went and I ended up with the Summit Racing™ Pro Twin Clutch Kits SUM-700901. Certainly overkill for what I need/want out of this car, but I also don't want to have to ever mess with it again because there is the possibility of adding a little bit of boost in the future. Stay tuned for the next update, which should hopefully be videos and first impressions.

Thanks. It's pretty dirty from sitting for a few weeks, but I should be able to get it tomorrow so I can get it all cleaned up. Also have a IROC Motorsports WSX hood and their clear tail lights coming for it sometime. Just the little bit of time that I heard it yesterday, I far and away prefer the SE 3" true dual exhaust compared to the offroad y to single 3". It sounds so much better in my opinion.

The SE 3" true dual exhaust is loud. When you get tired it, Magnaflow mufflers can be made to fit, and they give the exhaust a mellower sound with no drone or rasp.

Finally coming in with a few updates as I think we've finally got everything good to go. Got the motor buttoned up and about 500 miles on it a couple weeks ago. Did my 500 mile oil change then had it tuned. Picked it up from the tuner next day, did a little driving, got on it pretty good and saw my oil pressure drop to about 12 psi at idle when it had been around 50-60 with the high pressure oil pump. So fast forward another week, we got motor dropped and found oil pump bolts loose as well as the oil pick up tube. Luckily I was paying attention so all is well. Got it back Tuesday, then Wednesday night, just taking off normally from a stop light, let off clutch give it a little throttle then it sounded like all hell broke loose under the car. Get it pushed into a parking lot to find my driveshaft on the ground . Just got a new one installed this afternoon and all is well again. Not sure what it's putting down to the ground for power, but apparently it's enough to do this.

Unless there is a defect with the tubing, it takes a HECK of a lot to break a driveshaft, even an aluminum one. Summit Racing…breaking driveshafts since 1968.

@jc1285,

That update pretty much sums up what it's like to be an automotive enthusiast. It's like a roller coaster at times with the highest of highs and lowest of lows. If you happen to break this one we carry a variety of driveshafts from a number of manufacturers. There are even custom driveshafts available if needed. Good update nonetheless. We'll be following along!

@Che70velle,

That's a heck of a slogan right there

I’ll accept all royalties from the new slogan in free parts. 😜

So my next update includes some numbers and a question about heads. Found a local shop that can dyno tune. We ended up at 391hp and 384tq. Drives really good, but as usual for all of us kinda guys, always looking for more, so heads are next on the list. I've found a set of Pro Filer 215cc heads I can pick up for what I think is a good deal. Just curious if anybody here has any experience with them.
I also just put a set of the Borla XR mufflers on the true dual exhaust and it's money.
