Default Quiet cammed stalled truck

I’ve got an 02 1500hd and Ive decided to replace the cam. I’m keeping stock exhaust from manifolds to tailpipe. I want a high(3000) stall converter because i think they’re fun to launch. Having the stall means I don’t really need to worry about bottom end power right? Any suggestions on a cam for me

Are you daily driving the truck? Do you do any towing?

No towing. I do daily drive it but in a small town with. No traffic. It will see road-trips though. I do have to sit and idle a lot but I’m doing that in my 7.3 right now so trying to keep it a bit quieter than that.

I’d throw the stall converter in it first and see what you think. A 3k stall will change the way it drives a lot. That and gears will completely change the way the truck behaves. Before we discuss camshafts, are you interested in changing out valve springs also?

I’ve got the engine out right now. Was leaking from rear main oil pan and multiple freeze plugs.

If you know you will doing a cam, I'd do that first and then pick a convertor.

Spend the money on a good convertor like Circle D or such. It's definitely worth the extra money.

There are some things you can go cheap on when building a car. A convertor and injectors are not one of them, IMO and experience.

Ok, didn’t know engine was out. What other mods are you doing here to compliment a camshaft change? Looks like your leaving the entire exhaust alone…intake? TB? You don’t want much camshaft if everything else is being left alone. It all has to work as a combination. Interesting about the leaking freeze plugs…I’ve yet to see an LS engine leak at the plugs.

I have seen the plugs on the heads leak if you neglect the cooling system... I also have a pair in the scrap pile that ate away all the cooling passages from Erosion.
