Aren't Powertorque big dog in tuning in QLD? I've seen some of their stuff a long time ago and they were tuning much more radical cams than what you are looking at? Surely they haven't gotten worse in that time? Should have even more experience with radical cams now.

What I do know is that some shops tend to push away jobs that involve tuning cams they don't supply, especially if they're harder to tune cam choices. I think this is because of the extra time tuning a new combo over something they've already experienced and have base tunes for, that only requiring tweaking for an individual car.

Others may disagree with it but it's how they keep costs low and minimise the time spent on each car. I know that cam and tune packages haven't really gone up in 20 years, not too many things that can claim that.

are you talking about power torque engines in Brendale.
Haven't spoken to them as I've only approached a few that are well know on the south side of Brisbane and gold coast.
isbane.ill give them a call this week and see what they say.
but I'll probably just stay with the 113lsa comp cacompIt matches my build prity closely. But would benefit from a tighter lsa around the 107 area

Yes, that's them. I've not used them as I'm in Sydney but seen some of their cars and they have good results.

That cam with a 107 lsa would have 17 degrees overlap. I don't think that would be good at all. I wouldn't worry about trying to fit some blanket statement to an LS cam, work out what you want and just choose the cam events that match. Then see if there's an off the shelf cam that matches. Or, get a custom cam. Personally, I wouldn't even buy a Comp cam. Up to the individual though.

Just my personal experience, so take it as you choose. I had a Comp cam in my current car before moving to a Cam Motion and then a TSP cam, I wasn't a fan of the Comp lobe design, noise, smoothness, etc. I feel other manufacturers offer more in the space for the LS. My favourite so far has been the TSP cam. Crow Cams in Australia are doing some good things too.

A 355 is nothing like an LS1 and it would lose way too much under the curve. However, your car of course. I also agree, you won't see those power figures with that combo.

I know that the Holden 355 stroker is nothing like a ls1 What sort of hp at the flywheel do you think that combo will make.A similar build on here with slightly larger cam 232 240 made well over 500 rear wheel hp with lower octane fuel and slightly lower compression ratio.

I'll take a complete punt and please only take it as a guess. I know this annoys people but from my observations, over here, a genuine USA 480 - 500 rwhp LS would make around 430 - 450 rwhp in a RWD configuration. For you, I guess you then work out how much more you would lose through the AWD system.

However, as I said to the Aussie in the other thread, I really would like to see this put to the test. It would be interesting to see someone purchase a full fruit US spec combination from someone like Tony Mamo, install it, dyno it and run it down the strip here to see if it matches the US results. I will happily be corrected.

that wouldn't surprise me that the 2 different countries have different hp readings on a dyno.I've spoken with a few in Australia who have made upto 380 awd hp but no one has cracked the 400 with a ls1 346 engine. Only with mote cubic inch engines ls2 or 383 stroker builds.I know it's a tall order to formally as the awd driveline drags anywhere between 30 to 45% of the hp out of these cars from the research I've done. If I make it I do if I don't I don't but I'm giving it a good crack at it with the highest possible compression ratio possible on pump98 fuel here in Australia the equivalent to pump 93 in the USA.

Funny you say that. I was expecting 25% drive loss for the AWD system, so, I was going to say an RWD 500 RWHP USD combo would most likely end up around 380 AWHP here. However, since I have no AWD experience or examples, I didn't want to say anything. I expect that a 380 hp AWD car would move though! Look at what some of the Aussie Nissan GTR cars run with this sort of power.

There's no doubt it will get along as the driveline is in a car that only weighs in around 1300kgor 1.3 ton.

Is the AWD set up you're using the same as what came on that short lived AWD Monaro from the early 2000s?

yes it is.HSV coupe 4 is same as adventra or HSV avalanche cross 8 ute.they all run the same driveline with a 5.7 ls1. Unless you are lucky enough to have one of the very rare 6L cars.

I'm a big fan of the cars in Oz, one of my best friends lives there and she sends me copies of Street Machine on occasion. That's where I learned about the HSV Coupe 4. And now I know why the front hubs on my Camaro are splined, lol.

I've taken the driveline from an Adventra AWD sports wagon and modified it to fit into LX hatchback torana. So car is about 650kg lighter and smaller in every way. to give you an idea of the difference between them. The adventra front wheel track is 1617mm and the torana is 1485mm maximum. So just to narrow the front I've had to modify the lower front control arms front cv shafts steering rack and move the McPherson strut towers inward 55mm each side to meet the legal requirements for our vehicles modification rules.the rear was just as bad but easily done than the front as I was able to use a live axle from a cross 8 ute for the same diff ratio and mounting points. All of the electrics from the Adventra have to be used so the system works and runs without an issue. Over 1000 man hours so far into the build.

Well I've been doing research and development for my exhaust system.
watched David vizard you tube video and like his open header street legal sound exhaust setup.
So I'm using his idea but have changed it slightly as he says to use a reverse cone shape that is normal used in 2 stroke exhaust system.
I don't have the room for that shape so have gone with a cone in the opposite direction. This should create the same effect and also force the exhaust gasses to expand faster and accelerate volisity creating suction behind the exhaust gass pulse.
hopefully this will help scavenging on cam overlap and exhaust stroke.
It's not finished yet just starting tavk it together.
Twin 3 inch system with 100 cel cats and race style mufflers that flow over 700cfm each. More than enough fore my hp target.
the hand drawing will explain how it shout work.
GM used this design in a Corvette and it worked perfectly from what David Vizard says.
