Default Cam sensor issue, missing reluctor ring?

Hi all, this is my first post and while I don't consider myself a noob, I know there are plenty of more knowledgeable people out there.

I am finishing up an LM7 (Gen III 24x/1x) swap and my RPMs were all over the place. Eventually l looked in the sensor hole and found no cam "reluctor ring". It is just a machined surface, no highs or lows. What's going on here? I bought the engine as "refreshed" but no other details than that. Is this not a stock cam, is it installed incorrectly?

I know the only way to know for sure is open it up which I don't want to do at this time as I am almost finished and ready to drive/start tuning.

Running a Terminator X and the engine will start and idle with custom ignition, cam disabled, batch fire mode.

Can I just run it like this without doing any damage?

Hopefully the picture and video work.

If you install a Gen IV front cover and a 1X timing gear, along with a harness extension, you'll be back in business. Get a plug for the rear sensor ( or just reinstall the sensor and leave it unplugged ).

Sounds like good advice, I’ll probably do that, looks like parts are fairly cheep and easy to install.

My concern was that the cam was starting to walk or something weird but I guess there would be bigger issues if it moved that much.

Im sure I’ll eventually do a cam swap on it, just didnt have the budget for it right now.
