If you're looking for mild manners, the Sloppy Stage 2 is NOT what you want.
If you still want a bit of lope but good flexibility, you should consider the Summit 8720R1, which is 218/227 duration, .600 lift, and 112 LSA , advanced 2 degrees. You will need better springs for the .600 lift
With the bulk of the car involved, you need to retain low end response. This cam will do that. Plus it sells for $300 retail.
The SS2 will idle rough and has less power in the lower range than you would like.
With 2600rpm stall and performance camshaft, you should upgrade rear gear ratio. Stock Caprice wagon is geared 2.93, 3.42-3.73 would be much better.
Also you didn’t mention nothing about exhaust. With performance camshaft, you should install headers and 2.5 inch dual exhaust. Your stock exhaust is dual 2 1/4 with restrictive mufflers. Check Clear Image Automotive, they make quality products and b-body is their specialty.

This is listed as a truck cam. Does that matter since I'm not towing or anything?
If I'm swapping springs, what else should I replace or service while im in there?
Motor has 70k and runs strong.
I wish they would quit using the "truck cam" term.
All it really means is a milder cam that preserves lower end torque for truck use, implying for heavier vehicles and loads, which your big wagon is eminently qualified for.
70k miles is hardly broken in for an LS. They almost don't wear out. Almost.
What should be freshened up "while you're in there" is lifters and lifter trays (use ONLY GM stuff here), cam retainer plate and screws, and timing chain (they stretch).
Any cam with more than .500 lift should get springs for more lift. If around .550, LS6/LS3 beehives should be fine. If .600 or more, either aftermarket beehives or dual springs are in order.
