Actually it would be a single post sticky
"You're changing your camshaft. You WILL need a tune."

Rite on I understand stand now thanks for the explanation, but got another question while doing this is there anything I could should delete from the motor while doing the tune? I had a lt1 350 back in the days and I remember doing some deleting when I removed the smog pump off the motor then got the pcm tuned to delete vats, governor, the down stream 02 sensors, fan speed etc

If you're going to change the cam anyways, don't worry about what the stock power is. If you want to bump the power do like suggested and put one of the summit truck cam's in it. You could also have your heads cleaned up a little to bump the compression and or pick up a set of 799 heads for cheap, new springs seals deck it and go. If you go 799's you'll probably end up needing to run midgrade at a minimum and premium preferred to get max power without spark knock though. As far as anything else in the motor, if you're doing a cam do lifters, lifter trays, new head gaskets, new stock bolts and you're good. You could change your oil pump while it's out if you feel the need. Wouldn't touch anything in the bottom end. How many miles are on this engine and did you hear it run before? If the stock yukon intake will clear the hood leave it as well.

The 2000 LQ4 was less powerful ONLY because the first few years it shared the 5.3L LM7 cam (191/190), then when the LQ9 came out, the LQ4 also got its cam (196/201).

Put some 243/799 heads on it, then put a mild cam in it. It will make 400HP by accident.
Your compression will be 10.2:1 if you use a .040 gasket

What about some 706 heads? I think those are 64 cc? And would that bump up a compression ?

706 heads have 61cc chambers and a bit smaller ports than 243/799 heads. If you're looking for low end power these will deliver.
With 706 heads you will have about 10.42:1 compression.
I would lean more towards the 243/799 heads myself. Better breathing higher up.

Likely not a bad idea, max power would be up some, but part throttle low RPM response will be a bit soggier, which in a Caddy barge might not be as desirable.
