At least now you know what a massive bucket of ugly that cam is.
Hey, back in Post #3 I wasn't being snarky with you, just saying in a friendly way (guessing you didn't take it as such... sorry) that you now know the chore ahead of you.
I recognize you as a pretty decent engine builder who isn't afraid to see what's what with "mystery parts" IF it doesn't grenade a motor first!
Enjoy your weekend, man!

Thanks for doing Tech & sharing.
That's rare these days in this forum.

As for China, some experts say it has about 10-years-left-before collapse. Lot of folks say post Covid lot of capital and technical support from the West has left China. Due to decline of population Chinese labor costs are rapidly increasing plus the younger Chinese generation doesn't want manufacturering jobs. I hope so as it's better for the US to do manufacturing here or in Mexico or Canada than China.

When Chinese parts are junk you can rest assured that's the level of quality the importer/seller selected to peddle. We've all had enough experience with good quality Chinese products to know that's the deal.

I'm happy to do this kind of stuff when I can, this is the best hobby there is and this kind of crap just ruins it in my ways than you can imagine. You know they sent me another one because I told them I wasn't happy with this one, well I got it last night and I degreed it here what I found

Duration @ 0.006" 270/275
Duration @ 0.050" 219/224
Lobe lift .322/.323

Valve events @ 0.006"
IVO 27°
IVC 63°
EVO 68°
EVC 27°
Valve events @ 0.050"
IVO -1°
IVC 40°
EVO 41°
EVC 3°

a little Different center lines from the first one same B******* overly aggressive intake valve close event exactly like the other one, In fact it's even worse on this one because BOTH of the lobes are backwards with gentler openings and harsher closings. Wtf!? The lift isn't even close to what's needed at these kind of angles IMO

Remember they are advertising this as a .595 lift 238/ 242 112lsa😂

If they'll send me one more I'll measure it But I'm tired of this already I mean, how do we even know if the lobes are at least uniform from one cylinder to the next or if they're even timed properly from each other...

At this point I can't see how I could allow anyone to use one of these things they are in my opinion without a doubt, not serviceable.

I want to get another thread going to share what I've found, get more attention on this.

I mean what if you went to McDonald's and ordered a milkshake and they gave you a soda cup with a hole in the bottom of it instead you would say,

" This is not what I ordered and it's also broken I can't even use it"

this is what we have here on a grand as scale

I look forward to hearing what you guys think

What's scary is that the unknowing public are buying this garbage expecting it to be as advertised.
And we can be sure whoever sells this crap aren't the only ones by a long shot.
Stick with known names, qualities and quantities. At least then there's a chance of recourse if it goes sideways.

Totally agree with Atsma. OP-Nice work, and effort. I'm actually pleased to know the Chinese haven't mastered camshaft design.....yet. I hope the poor guy who tried to engineer it hasn't been shot! I've seen and read about this stuff actually happening in China to failed efforts that their government won't tolerate. Hopefully this guy works in their defense department!!

Chinese LS cams are almost always going to be based at least in part on a SS2/Elgin/TFS cam. These people can't do a massive amount of research, they just study sales numbers, establish which is most popular, churn them out & hope they sell. These guys do this for products in any field that they are going into that week..
