Cracked lq9

Cracked lq9
Hey guys, long time reader first time poster. I have a cammed lq4 that’s losing oil pressure rapidly. So I had bought a junkyard lq9 advertised as running with 112k miles. Motor was delivered and it has a laundry list of issues, Heads have dropped valve seats but have not broken. Kinda just fallen out of the head enough to kiss the top of the piston and the block is cracked in 3 places but not in cylinder walls. I’m guessing the block is pretty much trash, but wanted a second opinion before I scrap it. Any thoughts would be appreciated

Rust in the water jackets shows someone ran water as coolant. It froze up. Get a refund or exchange.

So just finished emailing the yard I got the motor from saying the motor is completely unusable and sent them the same pictures I sent y’all and I asked them to send me another motor or give me a full refund. The only response I got back from them was a highlighted article in the email receipt that read “any disassembly, tampering or change of parts from a delivered engine voids the warranty.” And I wrote back saying that it’s standard procedure to re-seal a motor before it goes into a vehicle, head gaskets, front and back covers valve covers, oil pan etc. they stopped emailing back and are not returning my calls. My shop has used them for years and spent tens of thousands of dollars with them and it’s amazing they don’t want to get this taken care of asap. I’ve gotten into contact with a mediator from car-part.com and they 100% agree that they sent me a heaping pile of garbage. And if car part can’t get a new motor sent to me the farthest thing they can do to help me is removing them off of the site and refunding me half (2200$) so if this doesn’t get rectified I’ll be taking them to small claims court.

I don't know if you qualify for this but sometimes you can dispute the charges with the credit card company for defective products.

I don’t see how a business can “warranty” something that’s broken upon delivery and isn’t capable of being a running, driving engine. So I would ask them what exactly is there to “warranty” here, in this situation? If they keep resisting you, I’d burn them on social media, in as many ways as possible. I’d even put “don’t buy engines from xx” in my signature here on Tech. A bad reputation will ruin the best and biggest business quickly.

My shop is in Arlington Texas and the yard I got it from is in Houston, so it’s not like I can go down the street to put boot to a**. But I’ve never had issues with them before. But I definitely will not be getting anything from them again. In hindsight seeing a 1-800 number should be a big no no. But had no issues until now. Probably going to just order a ams 408 stroker since I’ve already got the motor out of my car.

These are the guys I bought it from, my shop is in Arlington texas and the yards in Houston. So it’s not like I can walk down the street and put boot to a**. If it’s not resolved by next Friday, I’ll probably end up ordering an ams 408 stroker since the motor is already out of my car and it’s taking up a lift and bay. In hindsight seeing a 1-800 number should have scared me away but we’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars with them over the course of 8 years and never had an issue until now. But I’m definitely not buying anything from them anymore.

The head gaskets never would have sealed in that engine if you would have installed it. Then they would be blaming you saying you didn't bleed it right or that you did something to it.
They don't build engines, the sell used engines from wrecked vehicles.
Un-fortunitly "Tested" means they started it and ran it for a few minutes at most. It ran on all cylinders, Didn't puke oil, Didn't smoke, Didn't knock and had oil pressure...
Tell them water was slowly seeping out when you installed it and filled it up so you thought it was just a simple head gasket.
If they gave you any paper work with a Vin of the vehicle it came from try searching the vin and see if shows up with pictures of the vehicle from the auction.
I have seen auction pictures from various states in the winter time with Vehicles that have snow piled 2-3ft high.
