Default High mileage ls1 ws6

Looking to freshin up a higher mileage t/a
current has ls6manifold full exhaust/ borla cat back, long tube headers/ automatic transmission, tuned. It has currently 212,000 miles driven every summer.

Im looking a getting the cam package at ws6 store, mainly concerned about replacing the timing chain and oil pump. I would be considering using my 241 heads having them cleaned up with a valve job or possibly buying a set of prc heads 243s ether stage 1 ws6 store or maybe the brawler series ls6 heads from tsp. I知 really looking to keep reliability and drive ability I知 wanting to throw in some new ls7 lifters, ls6 oil pump, ls2 timing chain , comp cam trunnion upgrade. possibly putting a torque converter in like a circle d 3200 278 mm, if As far as cam gos I知 really looking to keep it stock like , so I知 set on a ls6 cam. Would need pushrods to match cam not sure about the valves if I would spend the money on hollow stems, I知 not looking to increase rpm limiter, just a fun reliable driver

if any one has some input I appreciate it. I keep putting this project off, would be doing the labor myself if I can find the time this year. Thanks guys

If you have the budget, I’d avoid putting money into the 241 heads and get into the 243 heads. With a mild cam, I wouldn’t spend money on hollow valves. I’d recommend more converter. I have a Yank SS3600 and it drives great, even with my crappy 2.73 gears - wish I would’ve gotten the SS3800.

Years ago my friend went went from 396whp stock 853 heads to 430whp with old Absolute Speed cnc 241's at 62cc. So a little power from compression and a bit more from flow. Stock to stock a 243 to 241/853 is what 10hp max. A better set of 243's would probably pick up 10-15 more and I'd want a smaller chamber than 60cc but it's totally up to you..

You are going to hate yourself for being dead set on an ls6 cam. 20 years ago we used that as a budget upgrade because they cost under $150 instead of paying over $300 for an aftermarket cam. Now that they are no longer so cheap, no reason at all to use one. Many aftermarket cams can have stock-like drivability and still make better power everywhere than the old factory ls6 cam. Remember that anytime you up your converter stall speed, you need to add transmission cooling.

Comp cams extreme rpm 212/218 .558/563 115 lsa +0 advance

better cranking compression much faster ramps than oe stuff so much better low end response than the factory LS6 cam will give you

Even The smallest aftermarket cam is way way better than a stock ham shaft you get more power everywhere!

And this one Still uses LS6 springs just get some 7.450" pushrods and you have better reliability and more rpm than stock and btw this was like a new grind in 2004 😂
