Default Pushrod Length

Doing H/C/I on my 99 C5. Got the below numbers for pushrod measurements(zero lash numbers, no preload added). Measured with comp adjustable pushrod, 12" calipers, TDC compression stroke verified a few doing EO/IC as well.

Do these seem unusual at all? the #1 exhaust concerns me a little but I've checked it a couple times, made sure lifter wasn't stuck in tray etc... SBE LS1, 60cc MMS 220 heads, Johnson 2110 lifters, .040 gasket.

What would y'all do for pushrods? I can't order 1 length and get all of them in the .035 +/- .015 preload range for these lifters.

1i 7.321
1e 7.303
2i 7.333

Those look pretty believable to me. None are totally beyond the pale or anything.

Divide them up into Is & Es. I think you'll be happier with your numbers. Looks to me like your E valves have needed more grinding than the Is, is all. I think you can get 8 & 8 and get within your desired tolerance.

I’m ordering Manton’s anyway so was thinking 8 for the .326-336 group, 6 for .315-.323, and 2 for the oddball .303 and .310.

Anything wrong with that plan? Maybe overthinking a little

Just so you know when you by pushrods the all vary a little. I measured all mine at one time and there were all different sizes. Don't remember by how much. What is Tony doing for you?

I can't say whether you're right or wrong, because when I had my 12" Mitutoyo dial calipers I never checked for any pushrod variance. However, given the poor, make as many as you can as fast as you can attitude of some manufacturers, sadly, I suspect you're probably right. Now that I have only my 8" Mitutoyo's, I'll try to see how much variance I have on my LS7 7.800" PR's. But it is more difficult to accurately measure a 7.800" length on 8" calipers than on the 12" calipers I had. As a retired T&D maker, there's absolutely no reason for any large variances. Defining large as +-.005". They should be easy to hold +-.002", or less. That's on a manual, non CNC machine.
