Default Ls1 dipstick in LQ4 block. Will it read correctly?

Need some help on this one. I’ve got a 408 with a 7 QT pan. Will my LS1 dipstick read accurately? I know it doesn’t matter on pan capacity but should only matter on how far the indicator stick comes out of the tube. Has anyone put them side by side? Thanks

Pour 7 qts in and fire it. Shut it down and see what it reads. If it’s in the zone your good. If it’s not, scribe yourself a check line with something hardened and you’ll know how to check it in the future. I’ve done this with many a sbc build.

The engine builder used 6.5 quarts. Not sure how he came up with that. I guess if I had a dipstick in tube out of an LQ4 I could measure the distance the dipstick hangs below the tube versus my factory, LS one dipstick and tube. I would think that would be the most accurate way I was just looking to see if anybody else has ever been down this road before.

I'm sure someone has been down this road before given the prevalence of 6.0L LQ4 and LQ9 blocks used in F-bodies.

As Che70velle said, the easiest way is to drain the oil, add your desired oil amount, 6.5-7.0 qts, and check the stick. This i also how I've done it in the past. Its dead nuts. As he said, take a scribe, or a small file, and using the very corner of the file, make a new line (if needed) where the current oil level is, and you're good to go...
