Default Max lift on plastic lifter tray

Need some help determining if this will work.

Have a custom comp cam with .626/.634 lift. I believe this is makes the base circle smaller.

I already bought the GM performance caddy racing lifters.

We went to install it this weekend and notice the lifters fall a good bit down in the hole and don’t have much left in the tray. Is this going to be an issue?

I called Comp and they said it should be fine but I’d appreciate a second opinion.

As long as you’ve got enough lifter body left in the tray to keep it from turning, your ok. Honestly I’ve never seen a cam in an LS engine, that had enough lift to cause the trays not to work…and I’ve seen some crazy camshafts thrown in around here and elsewhere.

I once had a custom Comp Cam made for an LS1. Never ran it in the LS1, so used it in my LS7. Specs on lift with 1.7 rockers was .603" I, .610" E., but with 1.8s it was .638" I, .646" E. Never had any issues, but may not be apples to apples situation. Nobody will give you a 100% guarantee. However, I'm 99% sure you'll be fine. The lift specs are probably less important than running super stiff springs (my dual PACs are 165lbs seat, 425lbs open, again no issues) and running GENUINE GM trays, bought from the Chevy dealer. My .02.

I am running 0650" with Morel drop in's, no issues. Was also running 0.650" before a lifter/Cam failure with "LS7" no problem.
