Default trex cam questions

Im gonna be putting a cam in a 2000 camaro. He has MTI stage 2 heads , and a 150 wet kit. Now im not sure if they have been milled but they say those heads can be milled up to .030. The car is stock bottom end and I was wondering if we were gonna have clearence problems with the valves?? Anyone know if it the cam is too big for it , do i need to go smaller ???

thunder racing specs
Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft - T-ReX v.2 - 242/248 - .608/.612 - 110 lsa 3500-6700 RPM Power Band. Violent mid-range & high RPM power. Requires computer tuning, 4000+ converter on autos, 4.10's or greater on manual trans cars. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended. Due to the extreme nature of this camshaft, piston to valve clearance must be verified when using modified cylinder heads.

I would call MTI (since you have MTI heads)and tell them your plans. They can recommend a cam for your needs. Also they should have the flow sheets for your heads so they could match the cam perfectly.

call MTI and find out if the heads have been milled or clay the setup and see how much clearance you have. this is something you dont want to **** around with or you could very easily end up with some bent valves. i agree with Murry, match the cam to your MTI heads. the T-rex's VE were spec'd toward stock heads. thats not to say though it wouldnt work with ported heads provided you have enough clearance.

how do you know you don't have p/v issues. Unless you measure clearance...you can't be too sure.

I had a tight setup once...the car ran good but I had tweeked all my intake valves due to very minimal clearance...just because they don't touch when you turn it over by hand don't mean alot.

If you have stock valves and no milling would be ok...since nothing changed...but if you stick in a 2.02 valve...things all of a sudden got a bit tighter
