Default 408 stroker heads?

I am building an iron block 408 stroker for my ctsv. I was planning on using the trickflow 215s that came with the car but after talking with some camshaft companies it was recommended over and over that I ditch the 215s for something with a larger intake runner as the 215s would choke a 408 down. Now my question is do I just run the 215s I already have or do I switch to a 225 or 235, or do I go a different route and grab a set of ls3 heads and have them ported? Or even get a aftermarket set of rectangle port heads?

If the 215's will achieve the power you want to make, then run them. If you want more than they'll allow you, step up to a larger head.

The heads flow 312 cfm and should easily make over 600 H/P. It just depends on where you want to go.

My .02

First choice, money no object Mamo Motor Sports 235's & Ported Fast 102
Second choice AFR LS3's, Ported OE LS3 Intake
Third choice Ported Fast 102 will be needed to max out your 215's w/ at least 238/246 cam, 1 7/8" LTs
with 3" exhaust to "max out" for a street able set up.

Are you wanting a torquier street car, or a higher rpm screamer?

I've got TEA TFS 220's on my 408, but it's turbo charged. Runs strong out of boost and snappy with 11:1 static and a smallish cam. Sure I could have made more power with other heads but I chose to spend that money elsewhere in my build. I'd run those 215's you currently have with a good intake as mentioned and see how you like it.

Ive settled on running the 215s with the fast 92 Ive already got. Order a cam today that was specd for the engine with the heads its a 244/250 111.5+3.5 .621/.604 from cam motion.

Always Cheaper to go with what you already have, but I would have heads ported more to 235 specs and save up to eventually go to a Fast 102 setup when a good deal on one comes up to Optimize Combo.

By further porting heads while off, will save you labor, down time and money. Intake is on top and easily swappable later on.

Based on actual personal experience, on a 408, ls3, my ls3 trickflow 255s made way more power and torque than my 225 tsp heads. I will never put a cathedral on an engine that can fit a ls3 or 7 head.
