Default Engine builders who export motors?

Hello

I am in need of a long block to replace my LY2 third gen.It wiped a cam,I replaced the cam, lifters, buckets etc but 9 months later its developed a rod knock. So I have had enough of the thing and want a new engine. I see that Summit racing offers what I want but they are not sure when they will have a stock LY2 in stock again.

Can anyone recommend another engine builder, preferably on America's east coast?

Thanks

Mike

You don’t have to stay with the LY2. Any Gen4 5.3 will replace that 4.8 you have, just fine and even give you a little boost of torque with no mods. Keep your current injectors and you won’t even have to tune it…although I always recommend tuning when changing anything. Of course your gonna find that virtually anything crate is had to get right now…

Thank you for your reply.

I had been waiting in the hope I could find a decent used engine. However those things are few and far between over here.

I would certainly like a 5.3,it would give me more purchase options as well. As I understand it, the heads from my LY2 should go straight on?

Yes, that’s correct, heads will interchange. Only difference between a 4.8 and a 5.3 is crank and rods. Pistons will be flat tops in the 4.8, but will work in the 5.3, which will be a dish of some variety. Blocks are same. Heads are same, etc…

I have shipped motors all over the world, lots to Australia, NZ, all the Scandinavian countries. I am builder also. Let me know what you need, can supply in any form, core/rebuilt, short block or long block.

I agree w/ Chev70elle, just buy a 5.3. I can even do an iron 5.7 if you want even more bolt in power.

I am a little unsure of the terminology to describe the engine I am after.

I require the motor less heads and ancillaries, these I will take from the LY2.

Is the engine I require called a " short block?"

That is correct. A short block is a block with rotating assembly (crank, pistons and connecting rods)
Usually no cam or cam drive.

I would think so, but ask the builder/seller to be sure

Not to be a Debby downer here, but make sure you guys get shipping quotes before getting too deep. Ive got a customer here (current build in my shop) that just paid $1k shipping on a top end package and a rotating assembly from Cali…from a very reputable shop with shipping contracts. Shipping is out of control!!

Still waiting for an Email from Dave.

In the meantime still looking at engines. Can get this flown airfreight for $500 odd bucks.

Could I swap all my LY2 bits over to this block?

GAtsma is wrong. The SP75 is a Gen3 24 tooth reluctor engine. You need a Gen4 58 tooth reluctor replacement engine.

WHOA!! Good catch! When I read in his first post "third gen" I looked no further. Just now looked back and realized his LY2 engine is a Gen IV.

I mis-read your "third gen" reference in the first post as a Gen III engine.
I do apologize!
