octane question for a daily build

Default octane question for a daily build

I am prepping a gen3 5.3, and I was thinking of running gen4 rods and pistons . However, I will be running 706 heads and I believe my compression will be around 10.25:1. I will be running a tsp stage 2 cam, and I wanted to ask if its possible to run 87 octane with the added compression? I know higher compression needs a cooler burning fuel, but this isn't a major build. It is going in an 03 4wd tahoe.

Literally comes down to the timing in the tune.

You should probably keep the PE around lambda .82, especially if you do any towing. Get your quench distance into the .036" to .040" range to improve detonation resistance and run efficiently with reduced ignition timing.

Default Camshaft Lobe Center

Camshaft Design will help.
A C/L of 116* of greater will reduce compression pressure.

Lower LSA means more overlap and less Dynamic Compression.

Aluminum heads help since they pull out heat better, but as said...it's all in the tune.

OK, 87 + 91 BLEND 70%/30%.
This will GAIN millage AND reduce Knock.
I ALWAYS do this in my LS-92 Escalade fuel tank
