Cam question for LQ4

Default Cam question for LQ4

I’m currently building a lq4 that’s going to my 03 rcsb sierra. I found a custom grind cam .646 Intake Lift, .631 Exhaust Lift, 297 Intake Dur, 302 Exhaust Dur, 114 lobe separation. is this too aggressive for a 2800 stall for daily driving?

yes, but the actual specs would be better or cam part number
You really wanna stay under 220 intake duration @ .050 with 112 OR LESS LSA to keep from losing to much low end.

As mentioned, stay below 220 intake duration @.050 for a truck, especially if using it for a truck.

Also to much lift. That would be rough on stock rockers.

YES.
Look for a truck cam.
I have a couple heavy rigs with 212/218 .550" lift and they are REALLY good daily driver cams.
Easy to tune, easy to live with, and get BETTER than stock fuel economy, while pulling strong through 6000 rpm.

If you haven't bought this yet, definitely walk away from this cam...

are you sure these aren't advertised durations? Honestly its too big even if they are considering the difference is inly 50-60ish.

Yes too big. Go to vendor sites(TSP,BTR,Summit Racing) and search Gen 3 LS truck cams. Holdner has a low buck truck cam for 180.00 that is a clone of the Truck Norris. BTR Hot Rod would be a good cam for a 6.0 in a RCSB. I don't think it would give up nearly as much torque down low if any <3000 rpm as it does in a 5.3. 2800 stall would be a good match.

I'd suggest a summit 8720 or 8728. Check out those cam specs for a truck.
