H/C vs S/C.. Gains?

was pouring over some threads and read somewhere that a head and cam package was just as good as a S/C. I was wondering what kinda of numbers can be gained from a packaged head/cam combo on the 5.3L? I never believe what companies say.. anyone with good realworld hp/tq numbers from just a head/cam swap. I am asuming that with a nice cam upgrade and headwork good numbers can be gained and also keep the streetablity and have the numbers throught the rpm range.

Still trying to decide which way I should go with my budgeted amount to make some nice numbers out back.

i think youd be better off with a roots style supercharger IMO...yes heads/cam may give you a good peak # but with a big heavy truck you want a good amount of tq down low which a roots blower will give you...its not thee most efficient way to make power but in the end i think that would be best for you...then maybe some heads & a mild cam down the line meant for the blower.

On a 5.3L truck, Magnacharger no question will be faster than a streetable H/C combo. I'd also consider a turbo too.

i'd start by swapping in a 6L first. big chamber heads are better suited for boost anyway.

You could always check with Combination Motorsports and I know their revised turbo kit should be out in just a couple weeks. I believe with that kit they have the quickest or one of the quickest trucks out there.

6L heads on a 6L yield the same compression ratio as 5.3L heads on a 5.3L...the magnacharger is too small for these motors to start dropping compression anyway.

Go with the radix,it will make a ton of torque,drive like stock
and put a huge smile on your face every time you hear that blower
scream at wot.My dad has a H/c 6.0l in his ecsb 4x4 truck, he
used to slaughter me in my truck with bolt ons.When i put the
Radix on i could beat him by half a truck.Now with the 2.9 pulley,
Zo6 cam and nelson tune i beat him by 4 or more trucks.
