Default Too much open spring pressure?

Have a set of comp cam 26926TS-KIT summit has them listed at 505LBS open pressure while I read on an old forum thread that they are more close to 465LBS but was wondering if stock 317 valves and rocker arms would suffice or should I look into getting some comp cam magnum pro or ultra golds

The valves will be fine, those springs were meant as a drop in ls3/l92 so it's not that radical. I would just do a trunnion upgrade and should be fine. I've seen stock rockers handle well over 559+ open pressure. They are 505lbs rate, not total open pressure. The 465lbs open at max lift sounds right given a . 600-.630 lift cam.

From what I've seen here, CHE is the most favored for quality and functionality.

Why do you need that much open pressure?

What lifters are you running?

Have both johnson lifter and LS7 lifters think its too much for the LS7?
and its not so much the pressure I need its the max lift that the springs are capable of

I'd look at using the Summit SUM-174005 beehive spring if you are keeping the factory rocker ratio.
  • Installed Height (in.):1.800 in.
  • Seat Pressure at Installed Height (lbs.):140 lbs.
  • Open Height (in.)(application):1.170 in.
  • Open Pressure (lbs.):350 lbs.
  • Coil Bind Height (in.):1.100 in.

The BTR SP001 valve spring will also work for both the stock 1.7 ratio and the 1.8 ratios, should you choose that path.
  • 155 lbs @ 1.780” Installed pressure / height
  • 380 lbs @ 1.180” Open pressure / height
  • 400 lbs @ 1.130” Open pressure / height
  • Coil bind @ 1.070”

The reason was due to me getting these for really cheap im talking dirt cheap they were off an LS3 pull from a buddy so didnt wanna have to waste money on new stuff if these worked for the time being I was going to get the BTR SP001 if these didnt end up working out

The BTR shaft kit is arguably the best, but can't go wrong with CHE. The very best is Manton's trunnion kit, but big $$$.
