Default Pushrod length measurement - gut check

6.0, standard deck.
Cam Motion Titan stage 3 cam Part # 03-01-0012
Cam motion roller rockers LS039111102
243 heads, cleaned up on head surface (no real milling)
FelPro Permatorque MLS 26192PT head gaskets (0.048"compressed thickness
When I measure the pushrod length using a Proform length checker (67560), I got 7.300" with no pre-load on the lifter. This was measuring #1 with the cam on the base circle. I set #1 at TDC on compression stroke before I put the heads on. I checked both intake and exhaust independently. I measured the adjustable PR with a micrometer. I took the lifter gallery cover off to make sure the lifters were all the way down, touching the cam shaft.

What am I missing? This is a basic LS setup, no crazy changes. There are no 7.300" pushrods, however that is the measurement with no preload. So with 0.050 preload, I'm at 7.350"? Gut check me.

With an LS7 style lifter, you’re perfect. They have .200 preload TRAVEL and want .080ish total preload to be quiet. A stock OEM pushrod is 7.385”….not 7.4 like most people think. I’d order a set of 7.380 pushrods and send it, but a set of Oem 7.385 rods will work just fine. .005” on an LS7 lifter is nothing.

Thanks! I had my mind wound up. Built several Gen I sbcs, first LS. so I second guess everything. I see Cam Motion only has 7.375" push rods. I don't see 7.380" but I'm guessing 0.005" isn't too much of big deal.

Those will work. Recommended preload is .060-.080
The deeper end of preload will give you a quieter valvetrain.

Actual length and checking length are different. Call btr, comp or cam motion and they will explain.

Not that you need them but fully custom Manton's were only about 40 bucks more than an off the shelf set of BTR's... and you can order them to the .00x....
