I’d post this info myself, but it’s going to be far more believable coming out of the horses mouth. Here’s a link to an Engine Labs article with Lake Speed, who is likely the smartest guy in America on several subjects including engine oils. I also know Lake personally and will attest to his knowledge. This article discusses why diesel oil is harmful to a gas engine. It’s a great read guys! https://www.enginelabs.com/engine-te...rmance-engine/

This is a GREAT article on diesel vs. gasoline oil. After reading this, I'd never use diesel oil in a gas engine. I also learned another thing here. I once bought a used Kubota diesel tractor. The oil was pitch black when I bought it. It was my first, and only experience with a diesel engine. So I changed the oil immediately, and used it for a couple of hours. Next day, I checked the oil and it was pitch black again!! I flipped out. I'd gotten screwed, so I thought. Dealer said diesel engines turn their oil black almost immediately. Now I know why. Thank you, Scott.

That article was informative, thanks Scott. Well, now that I have this 6.2 liter on a stand I have to decide what I want to do with it. I'm trying my hardest to not have mission creep and build the damn thing up. I figure I'll open the ring gaps, check the heads for guide issues ( they're 5364 castings ), reassemble with BTR gaskets and the cam from my 5.3 and see what it can do while I have my 5.3 apart. Worst thing that could happen is it runs like a champ and I leave it in there, lol.

Got my results from Blackstone. I'd have been pulling the engine regardless after seeing these.

Starting my 5.3 teardown. Oil pump looked perfect internally, checked my thrust clearance and it was at .006". Oil pump pickup to pan clearance was .352". So far, I am leaning towards an oil starvation issue. I was finally able to look at my old datalogs and it was dropping pressure every time I got over 5K RPM, but recovered on every shift. I don't have anything but a stock baffle in my pan, so I'll be buying an Improved Racing baffle and adding a 3QT. Accusump. Hopefully those two things will fix the pressure problem. I think the oil was just piling up at the rear of the pan.
