I bought the Kent Moore tool it's a bit pricey (~60) but works like a charm. I wouldn't use anything else.

I sell these for $40.00 + shipping (with permission from this site) It works great, I even had a need for it the other day on my M6 when I was taking off the flywheel. It holds the stock & ASP pullies.

by the way..i used the exact same tool in the exact same metod in the above picture..that tool is worth every penny..the puller also worked great after i figured out how to get it aligned properly..i would highly recommend it.

That works fine most of the time with M6, but with an auto trans it aint gonna happen.

Does this work Y-body(Vette) pulleys as well?

The vette has the same pulley so yes it will fit. I remember another vette owner inquiring about the tool and if I remember correctly you can not use it from below as illustrated in the picture in this thread.
