What did we break off on my friends 98 SS while doing the ls6 intake?

Yeah they really should add that to the how to (It's what I was using) and perhaps how difficult it really is to get the front crank seal off... and the farthest back bolt holding on the coil pack bracket on 99+ cars. Also Some info on A4 car would be helpful... I broke my pully trying to get it off (heh perfect excuse to get an ASP ). Also the how to makes no mention of the AIR and EGR that I recall. Either way, they should put a metal sleeve around that sensor.

I've managed to never break the sender, of course now I just jinxed myself I unplug the brake booster hose first, then lift it over the top of the intake and away from the oil pressure sender. Then I slide the intake forward 3-4 inches so I can reach back to unplug the MAP sensor and the A/C vacuum line. Install is reverse of disassembly.

Doh!, was so careful too, I was installing an LSX intake, had to change the bolts that hold the knock sensors to flatter ones. Undoing these I knocked the oil pressure sensor. doh! was not too happy, hasn't totally come off, just a little wobbly. This happened on my 89 Friebird, I just taped it back together and all okay. As I am in England UK anypart is going to take a week or more to get here. So going to carry on with the install tommorow, and hope the sensor works, if it dosn't does this only effect the guage on the dash? I dont beleive the ECU reads this sensor so sholuldn't effect it starting up, would i be right?

I guess some people are luckier than others. This LSX instake is larger than the stock one, and with the pipes for the AIR in the way, not much room for movement at the back. Going to order another sensor or two. I was going to chance running the car with it broken, I know there would be no reading, but I am concerned about the diafram bursting, there is a fair wack of pressure in there.
I'm going to have to cycle to work now. Darn it, never cycled to work for like 5 years. My every day car keeps going, until me fiddled with this. I better stick to programming rather than mechanics.

haha, its a oil sending unit sensor. I did the same thing. Your oil pressure will just read incorrectly without it. Go to Lowes and buy a set of plumbers sockers and it will make it simple to take the old piece out and put new one in.
