by de-carb he means clean the tops of the pistons off (get the carbon off) so you don't have any buildup to make hot spots.

I winked the #5 piston with a LS6 cam before, all was fine.

De-Carb means to de-carbonize the top of the piston by simply removing the carbon buildup.

is this piston gonna be ok scored like that??? so i must have sum bent valves then right??
Just curious what made you take the heads off to inspect the valves. Were you getting loud noises? Reason why I ask is because I did a 3-2 shift at the top of 3rd gear around 6500 before slamming into 2nd gear. I have been paranoid about the valves since. I thought I heard some extra ticking afterwards, but it could have been there already and just became more apparent to me then. Funny thing is this happened after coming back from a dyno tune, and I was scheduled to go back later for some additional tuning. When I went back to retune I asked have a pull done on the same tune, and the numbers were about 2RWHP higher with the same RWTQ, so I think the dyno numbers would have been a lot lower if something internal got damaged, right?

I think this would be a GREAT time to flycut your pistons so you can run a bigger cam with the new AFR heads you're getting! You only have 7 more pistons to flycut too (one is already done for you, LOL).

i used a razor blade, worked very fast just bring each piston to top of stroke and scrape away, tape off the water jackets, very safe and effective way to do it, didnt take me but 20-30 min or so to do all 8

Quick Reply: looks like i hit the piston with a valve
