Default Absolute Speed heads on the way!!!!!!!!!!

I currently have a bolt on 02 z28 with a tr224 in. I like the cam...it pulls really hard up high...but i want better flow everywhere . ive seen some pretty impressive dyno sheets of Jay's heads with small to moderate cam. Ive compared sheets of cammed only cars and h/c cars.....and the power under the curve difference is night and day ive been researching heads for months now before coming to a decision. I talked to Jay today for a good while about my specific application and the heads are in the making I decided to go with a stage II 5.7 head with 2.02/1.57 rev stainless valves and comp 978 springs and titanium retainers. I wanted to stay close to stock compression because I may wanna go with some forced air or juice down the road.....besides i think these heads are gonna flow good enough for me with the stock compression Anyway, im pretty stoked about it....so I thought id share my excitement with my boys here Please feel free to give me your opinions/advice/input about my decision and maybe past experience with Jay or with my application. Later yall

Defiantly… I’m so looking forward to getting these bad boys in so I can get everything installed. With these heads, cam and some N20 I should move a bit faster….

Enjoy those heads. I have the same cam and you will love the new found power. My numbers are below with a full exhaust with cats. You will/should get better numbers than me with the Hooker off road pipe. I thought 409 was enough, but after awhile it begins to seem slow. So I have Jay sending me one of his custom cams to match the heads even more. He really knows his stuff.

The guys that are making 400 with just a cam defiantly aren’t running 224's...

Well for one thing, look at the compression he is running.

And also the tune and supportive boltons have a lot to do with it.

The heads I ordered are going to be 10:9.1 because I would rather have room for a larger cam than a ton of compression.

Alot of the guys with the lower 400`s have cats in there cars as opposed to guys with a nice dual exhaust or have a cutout. I always recomend duals if it is workable.

I have a friend that dynoed 438 with a 224 cam plus all bolt ons in a m6 car with 10 bolt with 410`s and jays 5.3 stage 2 heads

True... No cats, duals and an under drive would help the numbers of the smaller cams a lot.

well, i just switched from true duals to the ory-catback setup. i tried to make it as quiet as possible. i dont htink i want to put cats back in but i might put a bullet muffler in the i pipe to keep the rasp to a minimum. anyway, jermstyle...i hope u didnt take any offense to what i said...its just that ive seen much higher numbers than yours with a similar cam...so obviously i am expecting some numbers of the sort.

None taken... But what do you mean by higher numbers than mine? I still have stock internals...

When my stuff comes in and I get it all tuned up, then I guess we will know what kind of power my setup makes. I just look at the guys that post up these awesome numbers and sometimes if you look into it enough, you can find out why they are making more power than others with similar setups.

It’s all about details…

Yep, thats me. The reason my numbers are lower than others is the fact I am running TTS cats. TTS cats are some of the most restrictive cats out there. I am also running through a full gmmg catback with no dyno tricks at all. The way it was dynoed is the exact way its driven on the street. We pulled another 4 rwhp by just raising the lid 4 inches. I plan on dumping the cats though for some offroad pipes that will probibly give me another 10-15 hp. But first I am sliding in a bigger cam

I made 405 rwhp, and 406 rwtq open headers with a 224 110lsa 568 lift single pattern comp cam and stock heads through a 10 bolt with 3.42s. Now I make 392 through a 4.11 gear'd twelve bolt and run 2 mph faster through the quarter.

Jamie, I look forward to tuning your car this weekend or next. I'll call you later.

Cars that make over 400 hp with stock heads and a 224 cams are not the norm! Ofcourse there are some phreaks out there. Most are 2002`s

Most are in the 370-390 range depending on which boltons the car has. Ofcourse the open headers dont hurt his combo at all. Most of the guys on this board that the really have stock heads and make over 400 rwhp have larger cams. Not everyone who claims stock heads have stock unmilled untouched heads. I have seen a guy from this board who claims to have stock heads and posts great dyno numbers but I have seen the car and It has ls6 heads on it. Maby they are stock lol . Just not stock on a 98 f-body. Ya just never know ..I think your goal is very realistic which is a good thing. Some guys just want 450 from buying a lid and catback.
