Default LSx torque plates

Do vendors sell torque plates (for honing cylinder bores) for LSx engines? Does any LSx engine builders use them? My local machine shop has never honed a LSx engine so I was just wondering......

Here's one http://www.goodson.com/New_Prod_04/TorquePlate.html . There may be others.

Most reputable shops will use a torque plate. Yes your engine should use one too. The stress imposed by torquing down the head bolts will distort the roundness of the cylinder bore. The Torque Plate and the head bolts reproduce that stress and distortion during honing so that in the end, the cylinder is round when everything is assembled properly. That's what you want.

The shop I use had one made for the LS1 (for me) out of aluminum to match the aluminum heads.

We use aluminum plates with dialed in dowels from BHJ. We have three 3.930- 4.030- 4.160.
